Thank you Substack!

After the outpouring of generosity after I made a call for donations, I received an unexpected but welcome surprise. Substack decided to give a grant to Asia Undercovered. It was both a recognition of the effort I’ve put in to make this newsletter high quality, but also its importance. My initial goal to provide a Trump-free summary of Asia news, and have now also focused on highlighting non-Covid19 stories, too. That’s more important now than ever.

The grant will allow me to expand Asia Undercovered. This means more special issues, and other typs of content, and perhaps even a paid version of the newsletter. But don’t worry - the weekly round-up you know and love will remain free forever.
